TAPAS is a procedural discourse strategy that stands for topic, association, prediction, access information, summarize. These each represent language skills that are essential for comprehension of narrative and expository information.

ICHFLR is an acronym that stands for the words is, can, has, found, looks like, and reminds me of. These are the underlying syntactic links that drive the semantic associations which allow us to access background knowledge. This is a mini lesson that provides support to an essential foundation skill needed for TAPAS.
