SAN stands for Sometimes, Always, and Never. There is a self regulated strategy development script to accompany the implementation of this strategy. It is a metacognitive strategy to increase students awareness and ability to identify essential and non-essential information related to a topic.

Many higher level process oriented tasks are hard to take data for and show progress but ACTS, which stands for Alone, Clues, Together, Show me, doubles as a metacognitive and progress monitoring tool.  ACTS can simultaneously help students increase their awareness and advocacy skills. As educators or SLPs, you can use ACTS to keep track of what level of support they are able to complete the task at baseline and show progress based on increasing levels of independence.
